See what the local engines verify—and what they do not

This page turns the repository test corpus into a public product boundary. A supported result is not presented as a universal forensic guarantee.

Image engine coverage

Covered by automated fixtures

AreaWhat is checkedResult boundary
JPEGEXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, ICC, AI workflow fields, conservative C2PA/JUMBF markersStatic single-image JPEG only; Motion Photo, multi-picture JPEG, and trailing payloads fail closed.
PNGText chunks, EXIF, ICC, transparency, AI workflow JSON, conservative provenance markersStatic PNG only; animated PNG is rejected instead of flattened.
WebPEXIF, XMP, ICC, alpha, AI workflow fields, conservative provenance markersStatic WebP only; animated WebP is rejected. Encoding support still varies by browser.

AreaWhat is checkedResult boundary
ChromiumPublic tool flows, image corpus, PDF WebAssembly workflows, downloadsDevice memory and browser encoder behavior can still affect large files.
FirefoxCross-browser metadata and PDF page-flow coverage in the repository matrixSome install and folder-picker capabilities differ from Chromium.
WebKit / SafariDedicated corpus runner plus public workflow coverageWebP encoding and memory limits remain browser-version dependent.
PreservationDimensions, alpha where applicable, orientation behavior, page count, compressed image payload in lossless stripA changed file size is not used as proof that metadata was removed.

Known boundaries

Explicit boundary

  • No HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, RAW, SVG, Office, audio, or video processing in the public local engine.
  • C2PA detection is conservative marker detection, not cryptographic validation.
  • Pixel watermarks, SynthID, steganography, perceptual matches, and visual classifiers are not removed or tested.
  • PDF comments, attachments, forms, actions, scripts, hidden text, layers, and page contents are not sanitized.
  • Encrypted, malformed, animated, multi-asset, or over-limit files fail closed rather than producing an unverified download.

Install the local web app

The site includes an installable web-app manifest. Installation availability depends on the browser and operating system; files still stay in the local workflow.

Use your browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home Screen when available.
