See what the local engines verify—and what they do not
This page turns the repository test corpus into a public product boundary. A supported result is not presented as a universal forensic guarantee.

Image engine coverage
Covered by automated fixtures
| Area | What is checked | Result boundary |
|---|---|---|
| JPEG | EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, ICC, AI workflow fields, conservative C2PA/JUMBF markers | Static single-image JPEG only; Motion Photo, multi-picture JPEG, and trailing payloads fail closed. |
| PNG | Text chunks, EXIF, ICC, transparency, AI workflow JSON, conservative provenance markers | Static PNG only; animated PNG is rejected instead of flattened. |
| WebP | EXIF, XMP, ICC, alpha, AI workflow fields, conservative provenance markers | Static WebP only; animated WebP is rejected. Encoding support still varies by browser. |
PDF engine coverage
Covered by automated fixtures
| Area | What is checked | Result boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Document Info | Standard trailer Info properties and custom keys visible to the parser | Property handling only; not page-content sanitization. |
| Catalog XMP | Catalog Metadata reference, readable XMP fields, and post-rewrite absence | Embedded files may carry their own metadata and are outside this scope. |
| Digital signatures | Conservative signature-structure detection before rewriting | Signer identity, certificate trust, and cryptographic validity are not verified. |
Browser and preservation matrix
Covered by automated fixtures
| Area | What is checked | Result boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Chromium | Public tool flows, image corpus, PDF WebAssembly workflows, downloads | Device memory and browser encoder behavior can still affect large files. |
| Firefox | Cross-browser metadata and PDF page-flow coverage in the repository matrix | Some install and folder-picker capabilities differ from Chromium. |
| WebKit / Safari | Dedicated corpus runner plus public workflow coverage | WebP encoding and memory limits remain browser-version dependent. |
| Preservation | Dimensions, alpha where applicable, orientation behavior, page count, compressed image payload in lossless strip | A changed file size is not used as proof that metadata was removed. |
Known boundaries
Explicit boundary
- No HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, RAW, SVG, Office, audio, or video processing in the public local engine.
- C2PA detection is conservative marker detection, not cryptographic validation.
- Pixel watermarks, SynthID, steganography, perceptual matches, and visual classifiers are not removed or tested.
- PDF comments, attachments, forms, actions, scripts, hidden text, layers, and page contents are not sanitized.
- Encrypted, malformed, animated, multi-asset, or over-limit files fail closed rather than producing an unverified download.
Install the local web app
The site includes an installable web-app manifest. Installation availability depends on the browser and operating system; files still stay in the local workflow.
Use your browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home Screen when available.
