By using Metadata Remover, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Service description

Metadata Remover is a browser-based utility for inspecting supported metadata, creating cleaned or edited copies, re-scanning those copies, and producing result reports. The image tools support JPEG, PNG, and static WebP. The Image Metadata Editor writes only title, description, creator, copyright, and keywords to a fresh XMP packet after re-encoding a new copy; it does not patch or preserve every original field. The PDF tools support only the standard Info dictionary and catalog-level XMP within the limits shown in each workbench. The PDF Metadata Editor replaces the existing Info record with the non-empty supported fields you supply and removes catalog XMP; it does not preserve old dates or other Info entries.

Processing is designed to happen locally in your browser. The original file is not overwritten. The homepage image cleaner rewrites supported metadata containers and keeps the compressed image data unchanged, although removing metadata still changes the output file's overall bytes and size. Where a tool re-encodes the image, such as the Image Metadata Editor, re-encoding may change compression, file size, color handling, or other technical characteristics even when the visible image appears similar. PDF removal and editing rewrite the document structure and invalidate any existing digital signature.

The signed-in Feedback workspace is a separate support channel. It can upload only the JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF files you explicitly attach to a feedback form; it never uploads a file from a metadata workbench automatically.

Your responsibilities

You must have the right to process and modify any file you use with the service. You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of creator, copyright, and other metadata you enter, and for reviewing every cleaned or edited output before publishing, sharing, archiving, or relying on it.

You must not use the service to:

• Violate applicable law or another person's rights.
• Misrepresent authorship, ownership, authenticity, or provenance.
• Remove Content Credentials, C2PA data, copyright notices, or rights information to deceive others or conceal infringement.
• Test, distribute, or process unlawful, harmful, or malicious files.
• Interfere with the service or attempt unauthorized access to its systems.

Feedback attachments

Feedback accepts up to three optional JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF attachments, limited to 5 MB each and 10 MB in total. Attachments are intended only to help reproduce and diagnose a product problem. You must have the right to share them and must not submit passwords, payment-card details, malware, unlawful content, or unnecessary personal data. Original filenames are not retained. Attachments are stored privately and may be downloaded by authorized support personnel for investigation; PDF attachments are not embedded as active documents. Closing a feedback thread does not immediately delete its support history, but deleting the account removes its feedback threads and private attachments, subject to the legal-record limits in the Privacy Policy.

Verification limits

The report describes what the current scanner detects in supported categories. It is not a universal guarantee that every possible metadata byte, proprietary structure, future format, or forensic trace has been removed. Possible C2PA or Content Credentials markers and PDF digital-signature structures are detected conservatively and are not cryptographically validated.

The Metadata Editor does not verify authorship, ownership, licensing, or factual accuracy, and it cannot create, preserve, validate, replace, or forge Content Credentials. Re-encoding can change compression, color handling, file size, and subtle pixel values; old metadata outside the five displayed fields is not carried forward.

PDF metadata removal or editing is not PDF sanitization or hardening. The tools do not claim to inspect or remove scripts, actions, attachments, forms, annotations, hidden text, redactions, layers, or metadata inside embedded files. Encrypted and password-protected PDFs are not supported.

Availability and changes

The free image cleaner currently accepts up to three images per batch, 15 MB per image, 30 MB total, and ten images per local calendar day. The homepage image tool, EXIF Remover, and Midjourney Metadata Remover share that local image allowance; PDF, Viewer, and Editor tools are not counted. The service may change, add limits, remove formats, or be unavailable. We may reject files that are animated, too large, malformed, unsupported, or unsafe to process in the browser.

Pro subscription

Pro requires an active subscription at $9.90 per month or $59.90 per year. The annual price is about 50% less than paying $9.90 for 12 consecutive months. It supports up to 25 images per batch, 25 MB per image, and 100 MB per batch, with folder selection and a ZIP containing a share-safe JSON batch report. It has no daily image limit. Cancellation preserves Pro access through the end of the current paid period.

Pro applies to the local JPEG, PNG, and static WebP cleaner. It does not include HEIC, RAW, animated images, PDF, Office documents, audio, video, API access, saved presets, team features, or remote processing. Its report omits input and output file names, metadata values, and file digest values, and it is not a universal forensic guarantee.

Your first Pro subscription payment may be eligible for a refund when requested within 14 calendar days. Renewals are generally non-refundable except where applicable law requires otherwise or for verified duplicate charges or payment errors. Cancellation, refunds, disputes, and the request process are described in the Refund Policy.

No warranty

The service and its outputs are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. You should keep the original file and independently verify any output used for a sensitive, legal, compliance, evidentiary, or archival purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service or reliance on its output.

Open-source software

The browser client includes third-party open-source software. Its source availability, copyright, license, and attribution information is preserved in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt. Those components remain governed by their own licenses.
